Anatomically-Detailed Dolls

Skeptics

Anatomically-detailed dolls (ADD), or anatomically correct dolls as they are also known, are used in therapy, sexual abuse cases, courtroom testimony and sex education. They are like regular dolls except for the addition of anatomically correct private areas. Anatomically-detailed dolls might be a useful teaching tool, but when it comes to courtroom cases and allegations of sexual abuse, their use is highly controversial. There is little standardization in the process of creating the dolls, and also in the interview techniques used by professionals to extract information from the child. This can make testimony very suspect.
