Psycho Diagnostics

Iridology is the study of the iris to diagnose disease. Iridology is based on the questionable assumption that every organ in the human body has a corresponding location within the iris and that one can determine whether an organ is healthy or diseased by examining the iris rather than the organ itself. Studies done in the 70's, 80's, and 90's have consistently shown the practice of Iridology to be useless. In properly controlled experiments, Iridologists fail to properly diagnose health problems, and often diagnose healthy people with conditions that they do not have. Iridology is not merely worthless. Incorrect diagnoses can unnecessarily frighten people, cause them to waste money seeking medical care for nonexistent conditions, or steer them away from necessary medical care when a real problem is overlooked.
